My dad turns 60 today. I sure hope I have his skin :)
Dad,
Happy Birthday. You are one of the hardest working men I know. You have put many, many years of your life into working very hard to provide for your family. The navy for 28 years and now the State Police for 14+ years. You've worked normal day hours, you've gone on long cruises, you've worked shift work... You name it, you've done it! And in all of that you are the least complaining person I know and you are very faithful and dependable.
I can still remember being a little girl on Stewart Drive and you would come up the stairs to say goodnight to me. I would try and hide behind my pillows and I think you would try to sneak in, but I always knew you were coming because your ankles and knees make cracking sounds :) And I remember how mom would send us in to wake you up and you'd pretend to be asleep until we got real close and you'd jump up and scare us.
You are a great Grampy too! I love how Virginia's little face lights up when she hears you or sees you.
Thank you for being my dad. Some may say you didn't have a choice, but really you did. You didn't have to stick around when I was born - but I can bet my life that it never even crossed your mind. I am grateful to God for how He has held our family and kept us so close. I am thankful He gave you to me as my dad, quirks and all ;)
Thank you for caring for us, providing for us, loving us, and giving up hard things to be there for us. You are and always will be my favorite and my hero.
I love you. Happy Birthday!
