The girls going in to the crowd. They were very good about holding hands and sticking together!! Look at all those people! And you can see some parents helping their kids :)

Jason and I had a great adventure on Saturday... We woke up a little late and I asked him if he still wanted to go to the Easter Egg Hunt with Sarah and the girls... Because he is amazing and a really, really good sport he said yes. So we got up and headed out the door. We had to call Sarah a few times because we weren't sure where we were going... It didn't take too long to find out. When I called her the last time she started explaining that there were no places left to park and that there were thousands of people... For an Easter Egg Hunt???
The big draw was the helicopter, yes, a helicopter... The helicopter that was going to drop eggs from the sky. We were all a little curious...
According to the Canton P.D. There were 12,000 people there and still 5,000 who never made it in, but were desperately trying... No one, including the church had a clue that so many people would arrive. They were anticipating maybe 6,000 at the most...
Needless to say it was pure mayhem... Jason had to walk 3 miles after parking our car. I had jumped in with Sarah, planning on dropping them off so they wouldn't have to walk. But, we found a spot pretty close. Out of necessity, she had to pull the "I'm pregnant and four weeks from delivery and I can't walk that far" card and a cop told us we could go up this hill and if we found space, go ahead and park.
We thought we had missed the helicopter drop, but we were wrong (actually, the cop was wrong). The helicopter was the coolest part. The girls faces were precious!
The real chaos began when they opened the flood gates! Parents and kids stormed the field leaving litterally nothing in their wake (other than broken egg shells). There was definitely a lawn mower affect going on. Thankfully, Jason stayed with the girls, otherwise Sarah might have been one in the thousand of parents frantically screaming and crying because they lost their child (she probably wouldn't have screamed and cried, but you get the picture).
The girls were fortunate enough to gather at least twelve eggs between the three of them :) It was pretty comical...
In case anyone is wondering, I did read that all children were reunited with their parents...
If you click on that link you can read an interesting account from the perspective of one of volunteers. She's not exaggerating, not in the least...
That's my account. It was a once and a lifetime experience because neither us or Todd and Sarah will ever take our kids there again :)
